7 Tactical Moves To Dominate 2026 Before It Even Starts

November 11, 20252 min read

2025 is closing out. The question is simple: are you coasting or recalibrating?

Every year, I see agents get stuck in goal setting and confuse it with planning. Goal setting is about what you want. Planning is about building the structure and discipline to get it. One without the other doesn’t work.

Forget resolutions. Winners build systems.

Whether you’re new to the business or already producing, 2026 will reward the agents who prepare, execute, and stay consistent.

Here’s what I tell agents who want to take control before the year even begins.

1. Audit your performance.
Pull your numbers. No fluff, no excuses. Log in to your MLS and export your 2025 transactions. List every closing, every lead source, and every lost client. Circle what came from luck or referral. Mark what came from systems or skill. The goal is simple: know what’s repeatable.

2. Define the mission.
"Do more deals" isn’t a mission. "Four new listings under contract by March 31" is. Set one clear, measurable target for Q1. Then write down three daily behaviors that will get you there. Keep it visible. You can’t hit what you can’t see.

3. Build the plan and work it.
Block time for prospecting, follow-up, and skill training. Assign deadlines for your marketing efforts and hold yourself accountable daily. Motivation is temporary. Structure wins every time.

4. Put clients first.
Call your top 25 clients before January 1. Don’t ask for business; ask what their 2026 goal is. Listen. Take notes. That list will drive your first quarter. Relationships are your real pipeline.

5. Stay current on the market.
Markets shift. Algorithms change. Consumer attention moves fast. Choose one industry trend and master it before January 15. Learn it well enough to teach it. Agents who understand the market always outlast the ones who just react to it.

6. Invest in yourself.
If you’re weak in a skill like negotiation, follow-up, or time blocking, fix it now. Buy a course, read a book, or hire a coach. Stop being cheap with your own growth. Cheap agents stay broke.

7. Protect your energy.
Burnout isn’t a badge of honor. It’s a liability. Schedule recovery like a listing appointment. Get enough sleep, train your body, and disconnect daily. Mental clarity is your competitive edge.

Success isn’t luck. It’s repetition of what works.

Start before everyone else does. Audit, plan, execute, and repeat. The agents who prepare now won’t just survive Q1, they’ll own it.
